Amazingly it also had a Fort Worth address! This was too good to be true. I called the number and three days later I was in the field with Bill Michero and his eyas redtail hawk. That encounter in September 1969 changed my life forever. A few months later, in January 1970, a gunshot haggard female redtail hawk was found. I was able to save her and ever since, I have never been without a raptor to fly.

At the same time, I met some local falconers; most notably Buzz Ross and Bill Michero, who were invaluable in their assistance to this little kid with passion that wouldn't leave them alone. All of these falconers were some of the original THA that had just been formed as a political tool to make falconry legal in Texas. Ten years later, I was fortunate to be one of original five re-founding members that resurrected the somewhat-defunct THA. Since then I have served once before as Northern Director and with your blessing, I would like to serve again bringing a fair amount of experience and a historical perspective along with me. I owe THA much and as a Director I will pay a little more of that debt back. We fly our hawks and falcons in a new political era thanks to many hard-working individuals, but there is always much more to be done. Here's to even better days ahead.
